Loan NOC

Vehicle Loan NOC Guide

Complete guide to obtaining No Objection Certificate (NOC) from your bank after repaying your vehicle loan. Learn the process and next steps.

What is Vehicle Loan NOC?

A No Objection Certificate (NOC) is a formal document issued by the bank or NBFC that financed your vehicle loan, confirming that the loan has been fully repaid and the lender has no further claim on the vehicle. The NOC is a crucial document that you need to obtain after closing your vehicle loan, as it is required to remove the hypothecation entry from your vehicle Registration Certificate (RC) at the RTO.

Without the NOC, the hypothecation entry remains on the RC, which means the bank's name continues to appear as a lien holder on your vehicle. This can create complications when you try to sell the vehicle, apply for a new loan using the vehicle as collateral, or during insurance claims. The NOC essentially frees your vehicle from the bank's legal claim and allows you to get a clean RC in your name only.

Most banks issue the NOC automatically after the loan is closed, typically within 7-15 working days. However, if you do not receive it within this timeframe, you should proactively contact the bank to request it. Some banks also provide a digital NOC that can be downloaded from their internet banking portal.

How to Get NOC from Bank
  1. Close Your Loan: Make the final EMI payment or prepay the outstanding amount to close the loan. Get a loan closure confirmation from the bank.
  2. Request NOC: Contact your bank's customer service or visit the branch to request a vehicle loan NOC. Many banks allow you to request it through internet banking or mobile app.
  3. Submit Required Documents: Provide your loan account number, vehicle registration number, identity proof, and the final payment receipt if requested by the bank.
  4. Receive NOC: The bank will issue the NOC within 7-15 working days. It will include your name, loan account number, vehicle details, and a statement confirming full repayment with no dues pending.
  5. Submit to RTO: Take the NOC along with Form 35 and other required documents to the RTO or apply online through Vahan Parivahan to remove the hypothecation from your RC.
