Track Driving Licence Status Online
Check your Driving Licence (DL) application status through Sarathi Parivahan portal. Track new LL, DL renewal, duplicate DL, and international driving permit status online.
Tracking your Driving Licence (DL) application status online is straightforward through the Sarathi Parivahan portal. The Sarathi system is the centralised database maintained by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) that manages all driving licence-related services across India. Whether you have applied for a new Learning Licence (LL), permanent Driving Licence, DL renewal, duplicate DL, or an International Driving Permit, you can track the status of your application online.
The Sarathi Parivahan portal provides real-time status updates for all DL-related applications. Once you submit your application at the RTO, the details are entered into the Sarathi system, and you can track the progress of your application from submission to dispatch. The system shows various status stages such as "Under Processing," "Approved," "Printed," and "Dispatched."
It is important to note that the application status may take a few days to reflect online after submission, as the RTO needs to process and upload the data to the central Sarathi database. Typically, you should wait at least 3-5 working days after your application before checking the status online.
Follow these detailed steps to track your Driving Licence application status online:
- Visit Sarathi Parivahan: Go to parivahan.gov.in and click on "Sarathi Services" or directly visit the Sarathi portal.
- Select Your State: Choose your state from the dropdown menu on the Sarathi portal homepage. This ensures you are checking the correct regional database for your application.
- Click on "Application Status": Look for the "Application Status" or "Track Application" link in the menu. This will take you to the status tracking page.
- Enter Application Number: Type your application number (also known as SARATHI number) that was provided to you when you submitted your application at the RTO. This number is usually printed on your application receipt.
- Enter Date of Birth: You may also need to enter your date of birth as an additional verification step to confirm your identity.
- View Status: Click on "Submit" to view your application status. The system will display the current status of your DL application along with any remarks or instructions from the RTO.
When you check your DL application status, you will see one of several status stages. Understanding what each stage means will help you know where your application stands and what to expect next:
Under Processing
Your application has been received and is being reviewed by the RTO officials. This is the initial stage after submission. The RTO is verifying your documents and details.
Approved
Your application has been approved by the RTO after verification of documents and successful completion of the driving test (if applicable). The licence will now be sent for printing.
Printed
Your Driving Licence has been printed at the centralised printing facility. It will soon be dispatched to your registered address via post or made available for pickup at the RTO.
Dispatched
Your DL has been dispatched through India Post and is on its way to your registered address. You can track the delivery using the speed post tracking number provided.
Rejected
Your application has been rejected. The reason for rejection will be mentioned in the remarks. Common reasons include incomplete documents, failed driving test, or incorrect information.
Pending for Documents
Additional documents are required to process your application. The RTO will specify which documents you need to submit. Visit the RTO with the required documents at the earliest.
You can also check your DL status through the mParivahan mobile app. This is convenient for checking on the go without needing a computer. The app provides the same information as the Sarathi website. Here is how:
- Open mParivahan: Launch the mParivahan app on your smartphone. Make sure you have the latest version installed from the Play Store or App Store.
- Login: Sign in with your registered mobile number and OTP. If you have not registered yet, create an account first.
- Add Your DL: Tap on "Add DL" and enter your Driving Licence number. The app will fetch your DL details from the Sarathi database.
- View Status: Your DL status will be displayed in the app along with your digital DL copy, QR code for verification, and other details.
- Check Application Status: If you have recently applied, navigate to the "Application Status" section within the app and enter your application number to track the progress.
